IDPBlitz Hall of Fame - LB Wing

Linebackers inducted into the IDPBlitz Hall of Fame, alphabetized by last name, with their year of entry:

Donnie Edwards (2006)

It was ironic that Edwards was inducted in the same year that another famous Charger, Junior Seau, retired and unretired. In the hearts of IDP Hall of Fame voters, though, Edwards was the better charger, finishing 2nd while Seau tied for 3rd that year. Edwards constantly posted high tackle and assist totals, and was steady in sacks, but what made him special were his interceptions. Edwards occasionally posted some of the highest IDP single-game scores ever seen in fantasy football.

Key stats:

  • 5 seasons of 100+ solo tackles, including 4 in a row (2002-05)
  • 8 seasons of 97+ solo tackles
  • 27 career interceptions, including 3 seasons of 5 apiece
  • 21.5 career sacks
  • 6 seasons of 30+ assists, including 3 in a row of 40+

Ray Lewis (2006)

IDP owners had as much passion for Lewis as Lewis had for the game. A perennial Top 5 LB when healthy, Lewis was a 1-man wrecking crew. He posted some astonishing single-season tackle totals (see below), but also mixed in sack and interception threats. Lewis was a model for how IDP LBs should produce.

Key stats:

  • 6 seasons of 100+ solo tackles, including 155 in 1997, and 131 in 1999
  • 8 seasons of 94+ solo tackles
  • 23 career interceptions, including 6 in 2003
  • 6 seasons of 3+ sacks
  • 4 seasons of 35+ assists

Derrick Brooks (2007)

For more than a decade, Brooks has been the role model for Tampa-2 WLBs. He's done it all, including achieving the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He frequently posted huge tackle numbers, and his ability to create big plays is remarkable, with 7 TDs and 24 INTs in his career.

  • 5 seasons of 100+ solo tackles
  • 8 seasons of 90+ solo tackles
  • 24 career interceptions, including 5 in 2002 and 4 in 1999
  • 7 career TDs
  • 8 seasons of 30+ assists

Junior Seau (2007)

The image that sticks with us about Seau is the wild-eyed in-the-helmet closeup that jumped out of the cover page of Sports Illustrated. Early in his career, SI tagged Seau as an all-time great, and he didn't disappoint either fans or IDP owners in that regard. He was passionate and rugged.

  • 5 seasons of 100+ solo tackles
  • 7 seasons of 90+ solo tackles
  • 10 seasons of 80+ solo tackles
  • 15 career interceptions
  • 53 career sacks

Zach Thomas (2007)

A 5th round draft choice, Thomas got by with hustle and guile. He ran all over the field to pile up assists; in fact, it wasn't unusual for his assist total to exceed his tackle total in a game. Thomas regularly put up high tackle numbers while mixing in just enough big plays to make him a consistent fantasy stud.

  • 4 seasons of 100+ solo tackles
  • 5 seasons of 90+ solo tackles
  • 8 seasons of 80+ solo tackles
  • 9 seasons of 50+ assists
  • 17 career interceptions
