Heroes and Zeroes - Week 3
Mike Harrison
What a strange Sunday it was! I can't remember a day with as low IDP scoring
as this one had. Fewer than usual outstanding games resulted in much less
competition than usual for Hero status this week. On the other hand the Goats
were truly terrible as only one of them managed to grab a solo tackle.
Interceptions were way down with only 23 in the 15 Sunday games. Double
sackers who failed to become heroes included: John Abraham, Elvis Dumervil,
Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, Brodrick Bunkley, Tamba Hali, Juqua Thomas and Brian
Urlacher. Scoring was way down with only Anthony Henry and Bryant McFadden
scoring on an interception and Lemar Marshall getting a safety.

Last Week's Stats |
Comments |
|
Mathias Kiwanuka, NYG |
7 tackles, 1 assist, 2 sacks, 1 fumble forced |
Hmm. Maybe we were wrong about Mathias' ability to convert to LB. But I'm
from Missouri and want to see him do it again. |
|
Kamerion Wimbley, CLE |
5 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 fumble forced |
After 2 poor games in a row he had a nice effort against the Raiders. |
|
Karlos Dansby, ARI |
5 tackles, 2 assists, 2 sacks |
The 70's assassin Carlos was known as "The Jackal". This Karlos was more of
a wolf in chewing up the Ravens RBs and QB. |
|
Demeco Ryans, HOU |
10 tackles, 3 assists |
Amazingly consistent Demeco has hit The Mark each week in Tackle and
Balanced leagues while missing once by 2 points in Big Play. |
|
Trent Cole, PHI |
5 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 fumble forced |
Trent was sackman of the week as he collected one-third of the Eagles total
of 9 sacks. |
|
Jared Allen, KC |
8 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 passes defensed, 1 fumble forced |
Jared celebrated his return from suspension with a huge effort in leading
the Chiefs to their first win over Minnesota.. |
|
DeMarcus Ware, DAL |
6 tackles, 2 sacks |
DeMarcus has been found! Nice to see him back after his disappearing act in
the first 2 games. |
|
Anthony Henry, DAL |
2 tackles, 2 interceptions, 4 passes defensed, 1 touchdown |
Anthony single-handedly turned the close contest with the Bears into a
rout. And for me his scoring combined with Ware's won a tough contest on
Sunday. |
|
Barrett Ruud, TB |
8 tackles, 3 assists, 1 interception, 1 pass defensed |
A triple play for Barrett! Is he ever on a roll with his 3rd consecutive
Hero award. |
|
Marlin Jackson, IND |
12 tackles, 3 assists |
Top tackler of the week, Marlin's hit The Mark twice in all formats and was
close the other week. |
|
Adrian Wilson, ARI |
10 tackles, 2 assists |
Adrian came up big after his poor game last week. |

Last Week's Stats |
Comments |
|
Julius Peppers, CAR |
1 pass defensed |
Julius never got his mitts on a ballcarrier, only on the football once. |
|
DeAngelo Hall, ATL |
blanked |
Hall gets the Goat of the Week award. Not only did he fail to do anything
positive, he managed to pick up 3 penalties for 67 yards during the Panthers
tying drive. |
|
Dexter Jackson, CIN |
2 assists |
Wow - 2 whole assists. A zero in some leagues. |
|
Bryan Thomas, NYJ |
blanked |
Big Bryan didn't even manage an assist. Very small game. |
|
Luis Castillo, SD |
blanked |
Luis went out in the 2nd quarter with a foot injury and never returned. |
|
Shawne Merriman, SD |
2 assists |
Not a very merry day for Shawne. |
|
Clark Haggans, PIT |
1 assist |
1 whole assist. Tough to find Haggans on the field. |
|
Bryant Young, SF |
1 assist |
Bryant accomplished the move from penthouse to outhouse this week as he
followed up last week's Hero with a Goat on Sunday. |
|
Kevin Williams, MIN |
blanked |
Kevin managed zeroes across the board. Why did I start him? |
|
Mario Williams, HOU |
1 tackle, 1 assist |
3 weeks in a row for Mario on this list - once as Hero, twice in a row as
Goat. At least he stood out as the only Goat to have a solo tackle. |
