Heroes and Zeroes of Week 9
Mike Harrison

Ahhh, nice to see that the Halloween blues are gone and our faves got back in the saddle with plenty of tackles and big plays. In one of the weirder results I've seen, David Harris of the NYJ totaled as many tackles as the entire Bucs defensive squad - 20! I'm not sure which is queerer - one player getting 20 or an entire defense.

Big plays abounded, so double sackers Damione Lewis, Renaldo Wynn and Kabeer-Gbaja-Biamila failed to become Heroes, as did Travis LaBoy with both a sack and an interception. Reggie Nelson was the only double-digit tackler who missed the list. Scoring was up as Antonio Cromartie on a return of a missed field goal, Dewayne White with a fumble return, and Shaun Rogers, Mike McKenzie and Charles Woodson with interceptions crossed the goal line.

Heroes Last Week's Stats Comments
Robert Mathis, IND 6 tackles, 2 sacks He played well, as did the Indy D - except when it counted.
Matt Wilhelm, SD 11 tackles, 3 assists Matt's over his injury woes as this fine performance attests to.
Albert Haynesworth, TEN 6 tackles, 1 assist, 3 sacks Albert was Bagman of the Week with his 3 drops of hapless David Carr, who must have thought he was back on the Texans.
Shaun Rogers, DET 2 tackles, 1 assist, 2.5 sacks, 1 interception, 1 pass defensed, 1 touchdown The defensive line of the week.  The Lions blasted Denver, and Shaun led the way with his 4 big plays.
Darnell Dockett, ARI 9 tackles, 1 assist, 2 sacks 9 tackles for a DT?  Almost unheard of.
Angelo Crowell, BUF 11 tackles, 3 assists Angelo tied Wilhelm as the Tackler of the week.
Roger McIntosh, WAS 11 tackles, 1 assist, 1 sack Roger was a sleeper in preseason, he's moved well past that now.
David Harris, NYJ 20 tackles, 4 assists The tackle line of the year!  2 weeks in a row on the Hero list!  What does David do for an encore?  Looks like Jonathan Vilma is Wally Pipp'ed.
Eric Barton, NYJ 4 tackles, 4 assists, 1 sack, 1 interception, 1 pass defensed What Harris didn't clean up, Barton did.  But his efforts added to Harris' weren't enough to keep the Jets from another tough beat.
Corey Williams, GB 6 tackles, 2 sacks Corey helped the Pack come from behind and top the Chiefs.
Zeroes Last Week's Stats Comments
Dunta Robinson, HOU 1 assist Dunta injured his knee seriously  late in the first quarter against Oakland.  He's out for the season.
Mario Williams, HOU 1 tackle Mario is officially struggling  - he's had far too many poor weeks for a top DE.
Michael Griffin, TEN 1 tackle, 1 assist, 1 pass defensed The Titans dominated Carolina without much help from Griffin.
Kenoy Kennedy, DET blanked Kennedy didn't show up in the box score, and was tough to locate on the field.
Adrian Wilson, ARI 1 tackle, 1 assist Very rare occurrence for Wilson to make the Zero list.
Derrick Brooks, TB 2 assists Brooks looked slow against the Cardinals, luckily the Bucs didn't need him to win.
Barrett Ruud, TB 1 assist 1 whole big assist.  Ruud wasn't on Sunday.
Aaron Schobel, BUF 1 tackle, 2 assists Big Aaron came up very small.
Chris Kelsay, BUF 1 tackle Kelsay's presence didn't lend much help as the Bills finally succumbed in OT to the 'skins.
Jarrad Page, KC 1 tackle At least he managed to hit the score sheet.
