Heroes and Zeroes of Week 12
Mike Harrison

Lotsa games, lotsa plays, lotsa potential Heroes this week! 'course, as always there were Zeroes to be outed. Patrick Kerney's quartet of big plays meant he was the Hero of the Week. It was really tough to be a Hero this time as double-digit tacklers Gary Brackett, Kirk Morrison, Von Hutchins, Richard Marshall and Keith Bulluck would agree. Double sackers Greg Ellis, Aaron Kampman, Derrick Burgess, Will Witherspoon, and Brandon Chillar also failed to reach Hero status, as did Walt Harris with 2 interceptions.

Scoring IDPs were Adam Carriker with a safety, Tully Banta-Cain with a game-ending fumble recovery for a TD, and Terence Newman, Darren Sharper, Dwight Smith and Chad Greenway each with 6 on an interception return.

Heroes Last Week's Stats Comments
Michael Boley, ATL 8 tackles, 1 assist, 3 sacks, 1 fumble forced Michael matched Kerney as top sacker of the week.
D'Qwell Jackson, CLE 10 tackles, 2 assists, 1 interception, 1 pass defensed Another big game for D'Qwell as the Browns continue their improbable playoff run continues.
Greg White, TB 4 tackles, 1 sack, 2 fumbles forced, 1 fumble recovered Mr. Fumble of the week.  4 big plays plus 4 tackles made him an easy Hero choice.
Patrick Kerney, SEA 7 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 interception, 1 pass defensed, 1 fumble forced Patrick's second straight sack hat trick earned him his second straight Hero.
Dwight Smith, MIN 3 tackles, 1 assist, 2 interceptions, 3 passes defensed, 1 touchdown Besides all this action he had a third interception, and second touchdown return, called back because of a penalty.
Osi Umenyiora, NYG 5 tackles, 1 assist, 2 sacks, 1 fumble forced The Giants stunk up the Meadowlands but Osi's motor was revved up on every snap as he never stopped coming.
Adewale Ogunleye, CHI 6 tackles, 1 assist, 2 sacks, 1 fumble forced, 1 fumble recovered Lots of movement, lots of plays, lots of scoring for his IDP owners.
Patrick Willis, SF 17 tackles, 1 assist, 0.5 sacks, 1 pass defensed Patrick was huge all day as he ranged all over the field in leading the 'niners to an upset victory.
Michael Lewis, SF 11 tackles, 1 assist, 1 sack, 1 fumble forced Michael cleaned up anyone who managed to evade Willis.
Gerald Hayes, ARI 12 tackles, 1 sack Gerald was the number 2 tackler of the week.
Zeroes Last Week's Stats Comments
Robert Mathis, IND 1 tackle, 1 assist Big Robert played very small.
DeMarcus Ware, DAL 1 tackle, 3 assists The Jets were lousy but they didn't have to beware of DeMarcus.
A.J. Hawk, GB 5 assists 5 assists?  Big deal.  A zero Big Play score for a deserving Zero.
Charles Woodson, GB 1 assist Woodson injured a toe in the first quarter and never returned.
Jason David, NO 1 tackle, 1 pass defensed David looked lost as he barely registered in the box score.
Justin Smith, CIN 4 assists Smith played as anonymously as his name.
Leon Hall, CIN 1 tackle, 1 assist Not much action for Hall.  Good thing the Bengals didn't need him.
Chris Hope, TEN 1 tackle, 1 assist No Hope for Chris as he watched his club get clubbed.  Too bad he was on the field while he did it.
Sam Madison, NYG 1 tackle The Giants were awful and Madison fit right in.
Angelo Cromartie, SD 1 tackle Cromartie ate crow after the game.  This was his second straight Zero after 2 Heroes.
